Dr. Ahmad is interested in bringing engineering innovations to advance the clinical practice of biomedical imaging. His research is particularly focused on developing new data acquisition and processing methods that can improve diagnostic accuracy of existing imaging applications or enable new applications. His research expertise encompasses digital signal processing, tomographic reconstruction, mathematical modeling, linear and nonlinear inverse problems, optimization, and biomedical instrumentation, with application to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). He is particularly interested in developing cardiac MRI techniques for evaluating cardiovascular disease, including ischemic heart disease and valvular disease.
