Meet our new faculty

Please join us in welcoming our newest faculty members Drs. Rachel Childers and Lauren Eichaker to the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Ohio State! 

Rachel Childers, Assistant Professor of Practice. Dr. Childers joins us from the Stephenson School of Biomedical Engineering, University of Oklahoma where she served as an Assistant Professor and Chair of Undergraduate Studies. During her time at the University of Oklahoma, she helped create and overseen the establishment of a new undergraduate program.  Childers received her B.S. in BME from the University of Georgia and her M.S. and PhD in BME from The Ohio State University. In her new role she will oversee several new curriculum and outreach initiatives including our redesigned undergraduate laboratory courses. Outside of work Dr. Childers enjoys gaming, cycling and gardening.

Lauren Eichaker, Adjunct Assistant Professor. Dr. Eichaker obtained her PhD in BME from Ohio State, MS in BME from the University of Memphis, and BS in BME from the University of Wisconsin. She has expertise in injury biomechanics and epidemiology, and tissue engineering. Her role in the department is to instruct capstone and industry & professional development seminar courses, advise and mentor student project teams and manage various aspects of our student design programs.  In her free time, she enjoys distance running, lifting, and cheering for the Buckeyes.
