This summer the Biomedical Engineering department hosted 10 students for the newly funded NSF BUCKEYE Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. One of the goals of the program is to prepare participants for success in graduate school.  The students participated in a 10-week research immersion focused on biomechanics and mechanobiology with faculty from our department and the departments of Materials Science and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Students also attended professional development seminars and participated in weekly journal clubs and sessions to teach them how to prepare their oral presentations for the end of summer research symposium.
